There are beach people...and then there's you.

Sometimes when making advertisements, it is better to find an incredibly specific target audience. For this project I used myself!

I love the beach, don't get me wrong, but my dream vacation is simply renting a gorgeous log cabin in the snowy mountains with a lake out front and a hot tub. Anyone that knows me, knows that there had better be a hot tub or I am not staying. I am sure that there is an entire target audience of people who feel the same exact way and have the exact same preferences. The goal of this poster was to reach people like me who share my preferences down to the very last detail.

To do this, I found four pictures of log cabins and one including a steaming hot tub. I used forest colors for my poster background, boarder, and text to match the images I used. The boarder color is also the same exact color that I used for the text. This will not only draw the viewer in, but set the tone for the advertisement. At this point the viewer is romanced by the theme and imagery I have used. So the next step is to get personable and humorous. "There are beach people... and then there's you." This quote was funny and relatable to our target audience. I chose an elegant, luxurious, and relaxing font/typeface because this is a vacation advertisement after all. We want to make the viewer feel enticed and romanced.

One of my main goals was to keep it super simplistic and clean. I let the imagery, personality, and colors in the poster speak for itself. You do not always need graphic after graphic or a ton of words on a poster to get your message across. Through this project I learned that a good designer will know how to make simplicity work for them!
