It sounds crazy...but hear me out.
Narrowing your target audience to an incredibly specific type of consumer is the best thing when advertising. It sounds crazy...but hear me out.
This week we learned that you actually have more luck advertising to a super specific target audience than a mass variety of people. The reason for this is simple: You can either create a mass advertisement fit for all kinds of people and get little to no bites, or you can design an advertisement that perfectly speaks to a select group of people and sells to almost all of them.
People appreciate being able to heavily relate to something you are advertising. If I made an advertisement about isopods and then posted it on my personal Facebook page as opposed to my business page full of followers who love all things isopods, I would probably be less likely to make as many sales as I could have had.
So, what should I do? Think of yourself when designing an advertisement. Think about something so specific in the realm of what you have to advertise for and go off of that. Create an advertisement meant for the type of person you are and I guarantee there are at least five more people that adore the same thing even though there may not be one hundred.
The lesson here is: don't be scared to make an advertisement for 50 people instead of 400.
