Doppleganger TIME
Sometimes being a good graphic designer is not about originality at all. Sometimes it is about your ability to mimic...
A lot of the time when applying for graphic design jobs employers will give you a test to see if you can accurately recreate images, advertisements, signs, posters, etc. It is important to know how to properly mimic a different artist's work because it shows that not only can you be original, you can also look at an artwork, understand how it was composed, and recreate said artwork using different tools and avenues.
TIME magazine is one of the most famous magazines for its simplistic covers of celebrities. No super flashy colors other than their classic cherry red border and lettering. I suppose you can assume that they prefer to stay bland in order for the celebrity on the cover to truly shine. This is what we are going for with this cover. I did not include any words other than their classic "TIME" logo and I used a normal white background. I use different tools to create the border, used their logo, created a poster-like background and added a picture of Queen Monster herself, Lady Gaga! I think this was a beautiful and simple recreation of something TIME would have done.
